December 13 – Organized annually by the Acadian and Francophone Society of P.E.I., ceremonies held annually at Port-La-Joye National Park to mark deportation of nearly 2,000 Acadians from Ile-Saint-Jean, as well as the sinking of the Duke William which was transporting Acadians from the Island to France. The ship sank in the North Atlantic on December 13, 1758, with the loss of over 360 lives, one of the greatest nautical disasters in Canada-related history.
