The people, historic events, and various cultural phenomena have influenced Acadie from the 1700s to today. But the Island itself is integral to Acadian heritage and the modern Acadian experience. The bounty and the beauty of the Acadian-inhabited landscapes, accentuated with their life by the sea, have also combined to shape the culture.
