VISIT WEBSITE

The story line of the museum features the visit of Indigenous people to the area 11,000 years ago, the Mi’kmaq along the Tryon River, arrival of the Acadians, and the later arrival of the Europeans. The Acadian display is in honour of those who settled along the Tryon River farming the salt marsh and clearing land.

Tryon River Trail Entrance

We have information on the location of the Acadian buildings and a nearby interpreted community trail meanders along many of these sites. The windows of our museum look down on the salt marshes for those who may not be able to visit the trail. The Tryon People’s Cemetery next door is believed to be an Acadian place of burial.
